HELLENIC one of Ballymacoll’s most successful racehorses and an even more successful broodmare was euthanized today.  She had been suffering from severe chronic arthritis.  She was 24.  HELLENIC won the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks when trained by Michael Stoute. 

 

She bred 14 foals nine of which ran and eight have won including the Group 1 winners ISLINGTON, MOUNTAIN HIGH and GREEK DANCE all trained by Michael Stoute.  Eight of her produce were by Sadlers Wells including Islington and Greek Dance.

 

She also bred the Group 2 winner NEW MORNING and the Group 1 placed ELECTION DAY.

 

Ballymacoll Stud is very fortunate to have four of her daughters DESERT BEAUTY, ISLINGTON, OLYMPIENNE and LA DIVINA in our current band of  broodmares.
