The Ballymacoll Stud owned and bred colt has been retired from racing and will be sold as a stallion. Tartan Bearer (Spectrum – Highland Gift) was a remarkably consistent racehorse, placing in all eight of his starts. He won three times including the Dante Stakes (Gr 2), and was second four times including the Vodafone Derby (Gr 1) and the Betfair King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1). His only time to finish outside the first two, was a third place finish in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Gr 1) when he suffered terrible luck in running.

 

Sir Michael Stoute and his staff have done an excellent job with Tartan Bearer. They were very hopeful that following his long enforced rest that he would be able to race again. Sadly this will not now be possible.
